Punishment

Corporal punishments. Although the words physical and corporal derive from Latin, it is useful to examine the Greek lexicon on this subject. The expression corporal punishment is generally used specifically to refer only to various forms of beatings, usually in the form of flogging with different objects, or mutilations or castrations. Capital punishment is the most extreme form of punishment, as it nullifies all bodily functions. It is used by a significant number of countries, even in some where, for example, beatings are considered inhumane.
